Framing Systems
AEP Span offers four distinctive retrofit framing systems that are all fully-engineered to meet local building code in combination with the metal panel systems that cover and proved enduring beauty to commercial construction projects. The framing has been designed to work together providing multiple combinations of systems providing support for almost any geometric roof design. High slope architectural and low slope functional roofing systems are available.
Grid Frame
The Grid Frame is a practical solution for any building with wood or steel joist framing. This retrofit roof system is designed to satisfy a more uniform load bearing condition on the existing building. The Grid Frame is manufactured using four basic components:
- 4" deep "z" shaped purlins
- 4", 6" or 8" "c" shaped posts
- Patented Galvanized pre-punched base clip for installer friendly erection and corrosion resistance
- Patented Purlin tilting clips allowing for easy positioning of roll formed purlins
Long Span
A conventional framing approach, the Long Span system is designed for use on buildings with existing "post and beam" roof support grid work. This system is ideal for industrial and warehousing applications. Long Span Framing is manufactured using five basic components:
- 6", 8" or 11" "z" shaped purlins
- 4", 6" or 8" "z" shaped top rafter
- 4", 6" or 8" "z" shaped continuous base
- 4", 6" or 8" "c" shaped web members
- Patented Purlin to rafter clip
Low Rise
Low Rise Framing is a very economical way to provide a positive slope for water run-off. This system is ideal for buildings with wood or steel joist framing or concrete decking. Low Rise is manufactured with one basic component:
- Continuous "z" shaped purlin members press broke to varying heights from 1 3/4" to 11 1/2"
(Higher slope is available, if used in conjunction with the Grid Frame System.)
E-Zee Sub-Purlin
When addressing problems related to old metal roofs, the E-Zee Sub-Purlin system provides easy installation and economic feasibility. Since the existing roof remains in place, installation does not require a shut down of regular business activities.
